Hoffmann La-Roche, Nutley, NJ Roche decision to divest its 128 acre facility at Nutley, NJ came with commitment to return the property safely and quickly to productive use by remediating Soil, Subsurface concrete and Groundwater across the facility during year 2013-2015.

 

Scheduling

Mr. Maran developed and managed at least 15 different baseline schedules each at different level of details varying from 200 to 1000 activities per schedule were updated bi-monthly for project management and governance reports. He developed quantity and resources loaded schedule and updated monthly to evaluate deviation on Plan vs Actual and for resource planning. He was responsible for developing and managing Key Performance Metrics. He analyzed the project for schedule and cost risk and recommended corrective actions to client and stakeholders. Mr. Maran’s job responsibility included reviewing contractors and vendors schedule to develop an integrated master schedule/tracking sheet for high level co-ordination with client, consultants, stakeholders and related parties. He developed schedule integrated 4D model (BIM) of the site using Synchro software for visual status tracking and reporting for progress status and divesture perspective. Mr. Maran conducted weekly progress meetings; schedule review meetings and contractor status meetings as required. Mr. Maran used Primavera P6 v8.3, Microsoft Project and Synchro software’s for his planning, scheduling and monitoring related to this project.

 

PSE&G Project Controls Office, Newark & South Plainfield, NJ PSE&G project delivery senior management recognized that significant increases in future capital construction expenditures warranted the creation of a Project Controls Group to assist in executing projects. Delivery senior leadership recognized a need for additional focus and thus created the Delivery Projects & Construction organization (DP&C) as well as a distinct projects controls team to facilitate project scope, schedule, and budget adherence.

 

Mr. Maran as Project Controls Engineer (cost and schedule) responsible for working on Public Service Electric & Gas Companys (PSEG) T&D Networks in a portfolio environment that includes programs such as developing greenfield stations, system reinforcement, transmission life cycle projects, and strategic projects. The project also involves Implementation of Primavera P6 Project Management to integrate schedule and cost for their portfolio to plan and forecast. Primary software used in these projects includes Primavera P6, SAP, MS Access, and MSSQL. Mr. Maran performed the following cost controls and scheduling services:

 

Cost Control

Mr. Maran developed different levels of estimates with the in-house estimation team for appropriate funding from the capital committee. He created new projects in SAP for stakeholder charge points based on work breakdown structure (WBS) and cost accounting. He developed Scope of Work document (SOW) and Request for Proposals (RFP) for contracts. He also worked on bidding, technical evaluation, and negotiation. Mr. Maran created requisitions and purchase orders and validated invoices. He also handled change orders, claims, and scope change requests. He developed budget, quarterly and yearly cost forecasts, cost management reports, exception reports at program level, and financial close out reports. Mr. Maran also validated salvage and withdrawal from existing site based on the standard accounting procedure.

Scheduling

Mr. Maran developed work breakdown structure (WBS), cost and resource breakdown structure based on the corporate EPS and project specific deliverables. He created an integrated master project schedules (baseline) estimated around 1500 activities per schedule and reported monthly for portfolio reporting. He developed a cost and resource loaded baseline schedule to develop cash flow, a manpower histogram, and equipment requirements of the project using software such as Oracle Primavera P3, P6, Microsoft Project, and SAP. He developed an equipment procurement plan including the long lead items. He was also responsible for developing scorecard milestone metrics for corporate portfolio performance reports; evaluating schedule claims from engineering firm, vendors, and sub-contractors; developing progress status reports, delay impacted schedules, target schedules and what-if schedules.

Associated Constructions & Investments LLC, Dubai, UAE Project Scheduler/Quantity Surveyor responsible for analyzing the contract documents, plans, and specs to identify activities and sequence activities to develop the detailed construction master schedule with cost and resource loaded. He created a work breakdown structure (WBS) and sequenced the major work packages into a logical schedule. He used Critical Path Method (CPM) to analyze the status of projects through tools like Primavera P3/P6, MS Project, and MS Office. He developed delay impacted schedules, extension of time (EOT) key performance indicators, monthly project status reports and what-if schedules. He developed equipment a procurement plan, manpower histograms, a machinery requirement plan and labor productivity reports. Quantity take-off, detailed budget development, client invoices and billing, change orders, scope changes, cost and schedule claims, and subcontract invoices and claims validation were also some of his responsibilities. He handled cash flow, cost monitoring reports and cost forecasts using Earned Value Management (EVM) methodologies. He also developed Scope of Work Document (SOW) and Request for Proposals (RFP) for contracts, and worked on bidding, technical evaluation, and negotiation.
